Anna and Belle

Anna and Belle

The episode opens with a flashback to the death of Belle’s mother. Apparently, she sacrificed herself to protect Belle from Ogres during the Ogre Wars. Somehow, Belle lost her memory of her mother’s death and the events around it. She went to Arendelle to seek out the Rock Trolls to regain her memories. On her journey, she met guess who? Yep, she met Anna. Everyone in the world has meet Anna in some time or place. Anna was already going to the Rock Trolls to find out details of her new aunt, Ingrid (the Snow Queen). Of course, the Snow Queen is aware of all this. Grand Pabbie gave Belle a stone like thing to put in her drink at home to regain her memory and told Anna that her mother actually had 2 sisters. Anna’s mother was the youngest and the older 2, Ingrid and Helga, disappeared. The family was so upset that they had everyone in the kingdom’s memory of them erased. They even erased them from the official records. Both girls wanted to rush home but an approaching storm knocked them down. Anna was hanging at the edge of a cliff and Belle’s rock was sitting on the edge. Belle tried to get her rock before helping Anna but the rock fell of the edge and shattered. Anna fell too but the Snow Queen showed up. Anna still had the box with the Sorcerer’s hat in her bag which was taken out by Ingrid. Belle watched as the Snow Queen disappeared with Anna. Ingrid said all she wanted was a loving family and thought she could have that with Elsa and Anna. But with Anna having something that could strip people of their powers, Ingrid said she will just have to replace Anna.

Belle neglects to tell anyone about her history with Anna. Even though, Elsa was asking for her help in the library to find records of Arendelle. Meanwhile, the rest of the group goes out looking for the Snow Queen. Rumple goes on his own because he knows where she is. He tells her that Emma knows she was her foster mother. She said it was all part of her plan. They found her ice cream truck with other documents pertaining to Emma like old paintings, writings, etc. The Snow Queen must have liked Emma. Rumple and the Snow Queen threatened each other to stay out of each other’s way. Soon, Belle left the library to confront the Snow Queen herself. She asked Rumple to help her. He told her how dangerous she was and that she had defeated Regina and Emma. Belle pulled out the dagger and commanded him to help her. I thought she had the real one but I guess Rumple changed his mind. He had to go along with her. They got to the Snow Queen’s hide out but he was told to keep watch outside. Belle encountered the Snow Queen’s newly repaired mirror. An image of Belle appeared in it but it was talking to her. Basically, it was insulting Belle and making her feel like Rumple was using her because she was naïve. It even asked her if she thought the dagger was real. He came in to tell her that the Snow Queen was coming and Belle because violent grazing his neck with the dagger. He whisked her away back to the shop. She apologized for using the dagger and hoped he would forgive her for lying to him. I love how she thinks he, the Dark One, is completely honest with her at all times. We all know she doesn’t have room in her head for all the secrets he has. That is not saying she is dumb but that he is really evil.

Belle decides to come clean to Elsa about having met her sister. She finds her, Hook, and Emma at the sheriff’s station. Emma was with Ingrid for 6 months but has no memory of it and wonders what happened to end it all. Elsa finds some records showing the lineage of her family (unaltered). She knows for sure now that Ingrid is her aunt. Remember her memory was erased since she found out the first time in Arendelle. There are little painted portraits of her family members including Helga who they say looks like Emma. They realize Ingrid thought of Emma as a replacement in her perfect family with Elsa. A scroll reveals that a Savior named Emma would eventually because Ingrid’s sister. It does sound perfect for the whole family to have powers. Belle tells them about the magic mirror could be used for the spell of shattered sight. All the people in the town could turn on each other and the only people left could be Ingrid, Elsa, and Emma. This sets the stage for Elsa and Emma to work together to defeat Ingrid, the Snow Queen. My question is what ever happened to Anna? She could be locked up somewhere in Arendelle.

Regina is basically giving up on finding a spell to help Marian and told Robin he needs to fall in love with his wife to break the spell. I was bothered in the episode that Belle’s Storybrooke self was wear a scarf with swords on it. Is that a play on the dagger thing? I think it was a bit too much.
